U.S. Marines of 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (Reinforced), provided security for the local Afghan community, along with Farah Provincial Governor Rohullah Amin and sub-governors of the province who spoke at the shura. 3/8 is the ground combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force – Afghanistan.
